Reefer Cargo Requirements – Temperature-Sensitive Goods

Designed for temperature-sensitive goods such as food and pharmaceuticals. Additional requirements include:

  • Specifying the exact temperature range.
  • Using A-class containers to maintain quality.
  • Steam-cleaning based on cargo type.

Fumigation Certificate for Products in Reefer Containers

Fumigation is the process of introducing a specific amount of a fumigant in gas form into a closed environment at a certain temperature to eliminate harmful organisms and keeping it in the environment for a specified period.

Alternatives to Fumigation for Reefer Containers

  • Cold Treatment: Using low temperatures to eliminate pests (common for fruit shipments).
  • Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP): Controlling oxygen and CO₂ levels to prevent contamination.
  • Heat Treatment: Using controlled heat instead of fumigants (common for wooden pallets).
